Who we are
We are living longer, healthier lives than ever before, and many of us can look forward to another twenty or thirty quality years of life after turning 50.
But despite the fact that we have these ‘bonus’ years to play with, there are still common misconceptions around ageing – that it is a time of stagnation, that it is something to be resisted or denied, or that the transition involves a trajectory of decline.
And while we may be adept at finding ways of filling time, it can be hard to reshape one’s identity when entering this phase of life and identify a new pattern or purpose. We may experience a sense of urgency and a restless drive to get things done, or a sense of diminishment and nostalgia for the past. Either way the process can feel daunting and disorientating; it requires a shift of perspective in order to embrace the full potential of these later years and explore the many new possibilities with confidence.
That’s where SILVERLINING comes in. SILVERLINING is an organisation that celebrates positive ageing, providing the 50+ generation with tools that help them to create or refine a plan for these later years. We offer a series of workshops and online resources for personal development – helping people to reframe the ageing process and to realize their potential for growth and development at any life-stage. By building a rich and diverse community where individual experiences can be safely shared, we focus on opportunity and adventure, rather than on loss; and on looking forward to a positive and fulfilling future.
“I don’t believe in ageing, I believe in forever
altering one’s aspect to the sun.”
